Complete Dentures
Complete dentures replace all missing teeth in the top and/or bottom jaws. They are made to replace existing dentures, or when a person has had teeth extracted a few months prior.
Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures are dentures which are made before natural teeth are removed, and are fitted by your dentist at the same time as teeth are extracted. This allows your appearance, speech and facial support to be maintained while the gums and bone are healing. Relines (refits) are generally required 6 months following immediate denture therapy. In some cases, new dentures may be required for optimum results.
Relines
Relines renew the fitting surface of your dentures when they become loose and/or painful.
They are usually required 6 months after the placing of an immediate denture, and every 18 months to 3 years to maintain fit of existing dentures. Old and worn dentures are generally not recommended to be relined.
Additions
Teeth can be added to your partial denture in the event that other natural teeth are lost. They may be added after the natural tooth has been extracted and allowed to heal, or added prior to the natural tooth being removed by your dentist.
